Each year, the Brother Martin Guidance Department's 8th grade and 12th grade counselors each nominate a student for the Louisiana Student of the Year Awards Program. Our the 8th and 12th grade counselors try to select well-rounded students who are leaders in the classroom, excel in their selected extracurricular activities, and are involved in community service. We are happy to announce that for the 2019-2020 school year, Brother Martin nominated Jason Childs '24 and Brad Corcoran '20 for the program. Even though neither of our Crusaders were selected, we want to acknowledge and applaud Childs and Corcoran for being nominated for such an honor! We are so very proud to call each of you a Crusader.
"The Students of the Year Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding elementary, middle/junior high, and high school students. This program, patterned after the Teacher of the Year Awards Program, is an excellent opportunity to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellent academic and/or Career and Technical achievements, leadership ability, and citizenship. Each educational agency participating in this recognition program must submit a district information form identifying their LEA/district coordinator to the state coordinator so that pertinent information may be sent to the designated point of contact. The Students of the Year Awards Program is sponsored by the Louisiana State Superintendent through the State Department of Education and the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education." - information derived from Department of Education
