Crusaders Honor Tom '44 SA & Gayle Benson and Receive First Installment of $1 Million

Mr. Tom Benson and his wife Gayle were honored by Brother Martin and presented the school with the first installment of their $10 million gift Saturday afternoon at the Rummel game, handing over a check for $1 million. Mr. Benson is a 1944 graduate of St. Aloysius and was named Alumnus of the Year in 1986. Mr. & Mrs. Benson have pledged the gift to establish the Brother Nicholas Geisenberg Building Endowment at Brother Martin High School. In their honor, the student Mall, the center of activity on the Brother Martin campus, will be named the Tom & Gayle Benson Mall. Presenting them with a gift of appreciation before the game were Assistant to the President and Principal Mr. Greg Rando, Assistant to the President and Development Director Mr. Tommy Mitchell, Alumni Director Mr. Kenny Spellman and Brother of the Sacred Heart Brother Louis Couvillion. They each received a framed #1 Crusader football jersey with their names on that back. The entire Crusader Community thanks Mr. & Mrs. Benson for their continued support of Brother Martin High School and the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
