Crusaders for Life and Justice Host Backpack Drive

Backpack Drive Donations

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we wrap up the second week of our new school year, the Crusaders for Life and Justice are excited to announce an initiative that embodies the Crusader spirit of service to those in need. We invite you and your sons to participate in our upcoming Backpack Drive, which aims to support the Harry Tompson Center and its invaluable services to the unhoused in our community.

The Harry Tompson Center is a remarkable organization that provides crucial assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness, offering them hope, resources, and a chance to rebuild their lives. One of the most essential items for those transitioning from homelessness is a sturdy and functional backpack. This seemingly simple item can make a world of difference by offering a secure place to keep belongings and a sense of dignity for those on the path to finding a safe home.

How You Can Help:

Your generosity will go a long way in easing the challenges faced by those seeking to improve their circumstances. Here's how you can participate:

  • Donate Backpacks: Encourage your Crusaders to donate new or gently used backpacks. Donated backpacks should have working zippers and intact straps.
  • Make a Contribution: If you don’t have a backpack to donate, Crusaders can make a small contribution at the Benson Mall registers when buying lunch that will go to purchasing new backpacks. The donation can be as little as $1, but any amount can be donated.

Collection Details:

Dates: Monday, August 28, 2023 – Friday, September 1, 2023

Drop-off Location: Boxes by the spiral staircase near the Benson Mall

Contributions: At the registers each unstructured period

In the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, we are committed to fostering a sense of social responsibility and empathy in our students, and this backpack drive provides an excellent opportunity to instill these values. Your contributions, big or small, will make a significant difference to support the missions of both Brother Martin High School and the Harry Tompson Center. We look forward to your participation in this meaningful endeavor.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity. If you have any questions or would like further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at cmccabe@brothermartin.com.

Sincerely,

Chris McCabe
