Crusader Senior Speaks on His Experience at World Youth Day

puyau_kyleKyle Puyau, a current member of the senior class, was chosen to be one of three emcees (MCs) who introduced all speakers, schools and parishes at this year’s Teen CROSS World Youth Day at Loyola University.  In an article published in the Clarion Herald, Kyle talks about how he had to overcome his fear of public speaking and the amount of hard work it took to put on the event.

Teen CROSS stands for Teen Catholics Reaching Out in Selfless Service. Teen CROSS members are selected to represent their church parish or their Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of New Orleans because they demonstrate leadership qualities.  Once selected, the Teen CROSS member commits to volunteer for a year in the archdiocese. This volunteering includes organizing the local World Youth Day held annually in October.

During the summer, members meet for an overnight retreat. This year’s retreat was held at the newly reopened Camp Abbey Retreat Center in Covington. The retreat helps members bond and is also where brainstorming begins for the World Youth Day theme.
