On Tuesday, December 4, the Brother Martin Athletic Department hosted their annual convocation honoring the cross country program. Head Coach Drew Haro ‘03 spoke on behalf of the varsity and junior varsity levels highlighting various accomplishments. Assistant Coach Mr. Philip Sims ‘91 also addressed the junior high program on their season. Overall for their season, the varsity program captured the 9-5A District title, Region III-5A title, and claimed State Runner-Up.
Battling through arguably the worst and toughest course conditions in state history, Hunter Appleton ‘19 led the charge as the individual state champion. This was the first time a Crusader Harrier has won the individual championship in over 45 years. Senior Cade Litolff placed 11th, freshman Mason Appleton placed 15th, senior Michael Champagne placed 21st and freshman Landon Sequeira placed 26th for the Crusaders in the State Meet. This 2nd place team finish was truly a team effort.
The runners receiving special recognition were as follows:
Team Captains: Hunter Appleton ‘19, Cade Litolff ‘19, Ahmad Wilson ‘19, and Michael Champagne ‘19
Most Valuable Runner: Hunter Appleton ‘19
Jack Schommer Award: Cameron Johnson ‘19
