Thanks to Melanie Williams, Mary Oestriecher, and Cherie Tregre for organizing a week of events to celebrate Louisiana’s Bicentennial.
A celebratory banner in the mall, a library display featuring the Bicentennial, a faculty/student Louisiana themed quiz bowl, along with food services preparation of traditional foods of Louisiana began Bicentennial week and the school wide celebration. Academic activities included classroom instruction related to the bicentennial in French, Spanish, Religion, and Social Studies classes. Students in AP Civics, French IV, and Spanish IV classes visited World Geography, French I, and Spanish I classes portraying historical figures key to the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.
