On Saturday, 29 October 2011, the Brother Martin NJROTC unit competed in the St. Amant High School NJROTC Area Eight Drill Meet. A total of (9) JROTC schools from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Floridacompeted in this important Drill Meet in an effort to possibly earn a berth to the Regional Championship known as a “Super Meetâ€. This year’s “Super Meet†is scheduled to take place at Southern University in March 2012, where the top teams will earn berths to the NJROTC National Championship Drill Meet in Pensacola, Florida. The St. Amant Drill Meet matched the Brother Martin NJROTC Unit against some of the toughest units in Area Eight, including national power house EscambiaHigh Schooland regional power house St. Amant. The Drill Meet consisted of an academic exam, a personnel inspection, armed and unarmed drill routines, a color guard drill routine, and the athletic competition, which consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, running and the “Tug of War. Each event was judged by Active Duty personnel from different branches of the U.S Armed Forces. Brother Martin placed 3rd overall in the Drill Meet and also placed 2nd in Academics, 2nd in Personnel inspection, 3rd in Armed Exhibition drill, 3rd in Unarmed Basic Drill, 3rd in Color Guard, 2nd in the 8×200 Relay race and 2nd in the Tug of War.  The trophies from this Drill Meet are currently on display at the Brother Martin Bookstore. The NJROTC Unit now looks forward to the next big Drill Meet atTulaneUniversity on 19 Nov 2011. All Brother Martin Faculty, Administration Personnel, and Students are invited and encouraged to cheer on your NJROTC Unit.  “Bravo Zulu†(Job Well Done) Crusaders.
