The Crusader Company just got four new cadets. This year, Brother Martin entered a partnership to offer NJROTC to Ursuline Academy students. No other all female school in the United States currently offers Navy Junior ROTC. In order to showcase this new pilot program, Brother Martin cadets participated in Ursuline’s Open House. After overcoming the logistical challenges of uniforms, transportation, and meeting times, the new cadets completed their first uniform inspections, and two cadets stood out and were promoted to Cadet Seaman Apprentice, the first rank available for new recruits. The new cadets still have work to do, but the uniforms and inspection knowledge are progressing.
As a leadership program, these cadets demonstrate the desire to learn new things, find new opportunities, and forge new paths. Ursuline Academy’s motto of Serviam (I will serve) matches perfectly with the NJROTC citizenship aspect. To promote the values of citizen-leaders, Brother Martin cadets earned more than 1,000 service hours with the NJROTC program. Through this partnership, the Ursuline detachment should complement and enhance the strength of the Crusader Company.
All of the cadets from the Crusader Company, including the Ursuline detachment, will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on January 15, 2020, at the Annual Military Inspection. The ceremony begins at 2:30 pm in the Backyard at Brother Martin. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.
