On Friday, September 28th, the Brother Martin community gathered for a very special Foundation Day Liturgy in the Conlin Gymnasium. The Mass, celebrated by Father Paul Hart ‘70, commemorated 50 years of Brother Martin history and 150 years of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans. As the gym filled with students, faculty, staff, alumni, Brothers, parents, and friends of Brother Martin, pairs of students began the celebration with a presentation of banners representing St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu and Brother Martin. These banners, along with the banner containing the 50/150 logo, honor our school’s history as well as the presence of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans.
"The road before us today represents the journey began by Father Coindre in 1818, the one began by the Brothers who came to New Orleans in 1869, and the one on which we all walk today in 2018."
After the Mass, our 50/150 committee and alumni board of directors were invited to a enjoy coffee and cake in the front of the Benson Mall. Throughout the day, our students were treated to crimson and gold cupcakes to officially kick-off our 50/150 school year and celebration!
Special thanks to our Student Ministry Team, chorus, band, student participants, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Romaguera Photography, and our 50/150 planning committee for their hard work in making this Mass a memorable occasion.
