News and Notes
  • The November 18 Times Picayune contained an article on Marty Hurley on the occasion of the Brother Martin band director's induction into the LMEA Hall of Fame.
  • The November 19 Picayune featured an article on Brother Martin runinng back Dante Butler, whose season and career rushing totals set school records.
  • Glory Days: The Catholic League of New Orleans, premiered on November 28 on WLAE TV in New Orleans. Part I includes St. Aloysius winning the first Catholic league football crown in 1955 and Cor Jesu's entry into the league in 1968. Part II is due in 2011. The video and a coffee table book can be ordered at WLAE's web site.

Brother Martin basketball coach Scott Thompson was enshrined in the Loyola Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 in recognition of his four-year basketball career for the Wolfpack. Other inductees with Crusader connections are:
  • Danny Lyons (football/basketball 1935-9), who coached the St. Aloysius basketball team for the 1939-40 season
  • John Altobello (basketball 1939-42), St. Aloysius basketball and baseball coach 1946-52
  • Sam Trombatore (basketball 1941-8), All-State on the hardwood at St. Aloysius (Class of 1941)
  • Bobby "Blackie" Rehm (basketball 1946-50), who starred at St. Aloysius 1940-3
  • J. Kenneth Leithman (track and field 1950-52), a 1947 grad of St. Aloysius
  • Carl Lavie (basketball 1946-51), who played at St. Aloysius (class of '46) and coached basketball and baseball there 1954-56; Carl's son John coached the Brother Martin basketball team from 1999-2005
  • Butler Powell (baseball 1957-60), who starred on the gridiron and diamond at St. Aloysius (class of '56)
  • Tom Schwaner (baseball 1963) who played football and baseball at St. Aloysius (class of '57) and coached the Brother Martin diamondmen (1974-7)
