For a number of years during the 1970s, Brother Martin conducted Spring Week for its seniors.
- During third quarter exam week, seniors signed up for mini-courses ranging from crawfish eating to engineering to life insurance. Each senior had to select at least fourteen hours worth of contact time.
- The courses were taught by faculty members, guest lecturers, or the seniors themselves.
- Some courses covered traditional subjects like chemistry and foreign language, but others included bridge, candy-making, bachelor cooking, rock 'n roll, photography, home repair, checkers, and life-saving.
- Some offerings involved tours of the French Quarter, the airport, or a rice plant. Athletic courses included archery, gymnastics, horseback riding, and fishing. Some courses had to be cancelled because of insurance costs.
- 1976 Senior Class President B. J. Chauvin commented, I think the students realize that we're one of the few schools who have an opportunity to take the unusual courses like this.
