  • Dale Valdery ('71), a member of Brother Martin's 36-0 state basketball champions in the first year of the school, coached Southern University of New Orleans to the championship of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in Jacksonville FL last month. The victory gave SUNO a berth in the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City where they upset #3 Robert Morris (IL) 94-92 in OT before losing to Georgetown College (KY). Read more about Dale ...

Justin Hartenstein ('99) was listed among Gambit's 40 Under 40, the paper's annual look at some accomplished New Orleanians under 40.

  • Justin is the co-owner of Advanced Automotive Concepts Enterprises, Inc., a company he started right out of high school as an eBay store. It sold suspensions, exhaust systems, and other car parts.
  • He used his electronics background to focus on specialty LED and fiber-optic technologies.
  • The company faced its biggest challenge when all its inventory was destroyed during Katrina but within a year was up and running again.
  • Advanced Automotive moved into a new facility in Metairie last year when it measured its three-year growth at 914%.
  • INC. Magazine listed AAC as one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the nation.
  • Justin hopes to expand into energy-efficient household, office, and industrial lighting products using LEDs.

This stained glass window is installed at the end of the second floor hallway at Brother Martin High School. It depicts Brother Polycarp, S.C., Second Founder of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, sending the first brothers from France to the United States in 1846.

The window originally bedecked the chapel at the Sacred Heart Scholasticate in the city where the first brothers landed. What city is that ?
