  • The Superior General of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, Brother Jose Ignacio Carmona, S.C., visited Brother Martin Friday, February 25. It was his last stop at a New Orleans Province establishment - community or school - during a month-long visit before returning to his headquarters in Rome February 27.

Brother José's day at Brother Martin started with a brief meeting with the Administration before Senior Connor Greco and 8th graders Johnny Contreras and Juan Alvarez took him on a tour of the school. Brother José visited a 7th grade English class, art and choral music classes, and a Spanish IV class, where he addressed the students in his native Spanish.

Did You Know?

Bryan Kenner taught math and physics at Brother Martin from 1982-2009. He also served many years as bowling coach. The picture below shows Bryan after performing his famous feat of drawing a perfect circle on the board.

Bryan has been hospitalized for treatment for leukemia. The first phase has gone well, but many challenges lie ahead. Since the treatments compromise his immune system, visitation is limited. But certainly his former students and many friends are not limited in their prayers for his recovery.
