Brother Martin Anne Frank Exhibit
In conjunction with the Anne Frank House (in Amsterdam), the Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and Loyola University in New Orleans, Brother Martin High School has been proud to present the special exhibit "Anne Frank: A History for Today" from March 20-23. This multi-panel exhibit features photographs and texts outlining the early life of the Frank family, their hiding in the "Secret Annex" to evade the Nazi roundup of Jews, and the post-script to their devastating capture. Recently, thirteen Brother Martin students participated in two days of training at Loyola University under the direction of Dr. Naomi Yavneh, the Rev. Emmett M. Bienvenu, SJ Distinguished Chair of Humanities and Professor and Chair of the Languages and Culture Department at Loyola University, and Morgan Bailey of the Anne Frank Center at USC-Columbia. This exhibit is a fitting complement to the school's recent reading and examination of Elie Wiesel's Holocaust memoir Night.
Brother Martin Student Docent Training
by Landon Reneau
Learning to be a docent for the Anne Frank exhibit has been a fun and interactive experience for me. The training at Loyola was very interactive and provided me with great presentation tools that helped to keep audiences engaged. Also, it was more than just a lecture. We were able to have hands-on experience, learning more in-depth about Anne Frank by using photos taken during the Holocaust and diagrams of the Annex she hid in. This exhibit will be an excellent experience for Brother Martin because students will be able to hear from their own peers about the life of Anne Frank and get a closer glimpse of what her life before and during the Holocaust really looked like.

I enjoyed learning about the history of Anne Frank, a well-known, yet normal young girl who faced serious oppression in the 30s and 40s. I also liked the way we were taught; instead of being sat down and talked to, we were talked with and completed various different activities that helped us understand the methods of being a good docent.
We would like to thank the following Crusaders for serving as docents for these student tours:
