In addition to Brother Martin’s grade-level summer reading selections, the English Department requires all students enrolled in Honors or Advanced Placement (AP) courses to read an additional summer reading novel. All Honors and AP students should finish reading the text assigned to their courses prior to the first day of classes on August 12th.
Within the first weeks of the 2019-20 academic year, the teacher for each Honors or AP English course will assess students’ reading comprehension and analysis through various measures, including, but not limited to objective tests, essay responses, class discussions, journal writing, Socratic seminars, graphic organizers, and other activities.
