In a school wide assembly Friday morning, the 2013 Alumnus of the Year, Michael Kimble ’81, addressed the student body on his experience at Brother Martin. He reflected on how the faculty and administration during his time at Brother Martin always helped keep the mission of Brother Martin High School of forming young people through a holistic education that fosters academic excellence in a caring, disciplined community. Mr. Kimble expressed how the most important thing he took away from his time on Elysian Fields was not the academic successes or athletic achievements, but how the faculty helped make him feel special and let him know that God loved him. To close Mr. Kimble’s speech, Student Council President Michael Maldonado presented him with a gift from the student body.
Also, the 2013 Brother More Schaefer Award recipient, Mr. Dominick Caronna ’85, spoke to the student body on how special it was to receive the award knowing it was voted on by his peers and the students and how he feels teaching at Brother Martin is like teaching in heaven. At the conclusion of the assembly all the Brother More Schaefer Award recipients were acknowledged and gathered together for a group picture.
