Juniors Develop New Bonds at Day of Reflection

DSCN2400The entire junior class left campus at 8:00 AM, on six buses to embark on their annual Day of Reflection. This year, the juniors went to St. Stanislaus College and Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS for the day. The focus of the retreat was to break open the Brothers’ of Sacred Heart hope for all of their graduates to be formed into men of of compassion, service, and justice. Former Brother Martin High School administrator, Tommy Moran started off the day with a talk in Our Lady of the Gulf Church. The juniors then heard talks on the spirituality of social justice, what initiation into manhood means in our present society, and a talk by Dr. Tony Melito and Facilities Director, Mr. Nick Lagattuta on the compassion, service to others. The students also had some quiet, reflective time on their own then an epic battle of “The Magic Scarf” as a community building exercise. The day ended with Mass celebrated by chaplain Br. Louis Covillon, S.C. with testimony by several juniors about their experience with the service-learning project that each junior has done this past year.
