It's a "Win" for Wrestling Reunion and Social

It was a thrilling night for members of the Crusader wrestling team and alumni last Friday. The Crusader wrestlers, under the direction of Coach Robert Dauterive ’84, were victorious against the Holy Cross Tigers in their dual meet. Dauterive and his wrestlers fought hard in this evenly contested meet with both teams winning seven matches. A pair of pins and pair of major decisions by the Crusaders were enough to provide their margin of victory of 29-24.

Director of Alumni Scott Corrente ’83, Director of Development Kenny Spellman ’84, and former members of the Brother Martin wrestling team were also on hand for the annual wrestling reunion/social. During the meet, wrestlers from championship anniversary teams of 2013, 2003, 1983, and 1978 were recognized. After the dual meet, alumni and friends enjoyed food and drinks at MoPho which was founded by fellow Brother Martin alumni Michael Gulotta ’98 (wrestler), Jeff Gulotta ’93 (wrestler), and Jeffrey Bybee ’97. Coach Dauterive was on hand to update former wrestlers on his current team and thanked them for supporting Crusader wrestling throughout the years. Jim Casadaban ’79, a former wrestler, commented “as a wrestler, club coach, referee, and dad I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know 40+ years of Crusader wrestlers. It was great to see everyone and what an awesome brotherhood of Crimson Crusaders!” Casadaban was a member of the first Brother Martin state championship team and has a long legacy of wrestlers in his family.

The Crusaders return to the mat on December 22 and 23 at Brother Martin for the Trey Culotta Invitational.
