Congratulations to Greg Deichmann ’14 on being picked by the Oakland A’s as the 43rd overall pick in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft. This season, he earned first-team All-American and first-team all SEC selection as a Tiger. He was able to hit .320 leading the Tigers with 19 home runs and 72 RBIs. His record also included 12 doubles and 451 runs. In the SEC, he is ranked No. 2 in RBI, No. 3 in homers, No. 4 in total bases with 146 and No. 5 in slugging percentage with .606. He was also a member of the 2017 SEC All-Tournament team.

In addition, the right fielder was considered a top prospect and was ranked No. 65 in the Pre-Draft Top 500 list. This weekend, Deichmann and rest of the LSU Tigers baseball team will be heading to Omaha, Nebraska to play Florida State in the opening round of the NCAA Baseball College World Series. The game will be on June 17 for 7 p.m. on ESPN.
