The mission of Brother Martin High School is to form young people through a holistic education that fosters academic excellence in a caring, disciplined community which integrates Catholic tradition and the charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart to meet the needs of a changing world.
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) provides students in grades 8-12 with the opportunity to learn and apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills by designing, building, and programming a robot to compete in an annual game.
Through the FTC program, robotics team members design, build, and program robots. These robots then compete at regional meets and a regional qualifier, with the potential of advancing to the Southern Super Regional and the World Championship competition. Information about this year’s game, VELOCITY VORTEX, can be found on www.firstinspires.org.
Participating in FTC not only allows team members to apply the math and science they are learning in the classroom, but it also expands their knowledge of careers involving computer programming, business, and engineering.
The FIRST Tech Challenge team meets after school on Thursdays until 5 p.m.
