Crusaders Sweep the Weekend

This past weekend, the Crusaders sports programs were in action once again.  The varsity basketball team played two games this weekend while participating in the Newman Invitational.  On Friday, the Crusaders defeated Newman in the semi-finals by a score of 63-59 in OT.  In the finals, Brother Martin were the victors with a final score of 51-40 after a good defensive battle against East Jefferson.  Jordan Cornish was named to the All Tournament team, and Jabbar Singleton was tournament MVP.

The Crusader Wrestling team hosted the Brother Martin duals this weekend against Shaw, Live Oak, St. Louis, and Teurlings Catholic.  Brother Martin defeated all the teams with scores of 74-3 against Shaw, 66-3 over Teurlings, 68-3 over Live Oak, and 60-3 against St. Louis.  With this win, the Crusaders improved to 10-0 on the season and will host St. Paul’s on Wednesday at 6:30 in the Conlin Gym.

The Brother Martin soccer program was in action against Archbishop Rummel on Saturday.  The 9th grade team tied Rummel 1-1, the JV won 3-1 and the Varsity squad won 4-0 behind Mark Mangum’s hat-trick.  The Crusaders are in action again this Tuesday at 4:45 against Jesuit at John Ryan Stadium.  Come out and cheer on your #1 ranked Crusaders! Go ‘Saders!
