Crusader Swimming Finishes Strong at State Meet

The 2017 swim team completed their season with a strong finish in the LHSAA Division 1 State Championship Meet over the Thanksgiving break.  With only four events, in scoring positions, Crusaders were able to place 15th out of 25 teams.  All three Crusader relays finished in the Top 16, adding points to the team total.  The relays were made up of seniors: Jonathan Bullock (Captain), Will Ott, and Sam Montgomery, juniors: Alex East (Captain) and Ryan O’Connor, and sophomore Kevin-James Watkins.

In the 100 yard butterfly, junior Ryan O’Connor came back from a 12th place seed time to win a highly competitive consolation heat and finished with the 8th fastest butterfly time in the meet.  “The state meet was a big success for all of the members of the team especially the seniors. It was great to watch such a positive group of seniors lead this team through our state meet. Throughout the season, this group of seniors provided an example for everyone on the team. Next year can’t come fast enough and we are all ready to pick up where we left off,” said O’Connor.

Senior Captain Jonathan Bullock left these parting words for his teammates: “Dive into the pool and swim each stroke as a confirmation of your hard work, commitment, determination, and dedication to do your best for yourself and especially your team.”

The Crusaders look forward to their next season and thank you for the support of the 2017 swim team!
