Brother Martin Unification students for week of community service in NO

IMG_0661Students from the former New York, New England, and New Orleans Provinces have arrived in New Orleans to perform service work and to commemorate the unification of the Brothers’ three U.S. provinces. Organized by the St. Bernard Project, a non- profit headquartered in Chalmette, has at its mission to rebuild homes in areas still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Joining 15 Brother Martin students in New Orleans for a week of community service beginning Monday, June 30th, are students from these other Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools in the United States, 14 students from Bishop Guertin in New Hampshire, 2 students from St. Joseph’s in Metuchen N.J., 9 students from St. Stanislaus, and 9 students from Catholic High in Baton Rouge.

The students along with their chaperones and local host families will be providing supervision, guidance, and housing. Brother Martin Campus Minister, Tom Baier is in charge of the service project. Their schedule for the week is listed here. Service sites are located in New Orleans.

• Seven (7) volunteers will be at 5015 Marais St., Monday – Thursday, doing exterior paint and subfloor work

• Eighteen (18) volunteers will be at 2485 Gladiolus St., Monday – Thursday, doing demolition and mold remediation

• Twenty-two (22) volunteers will be at 4911 Marigny St., Monday – Thursday, doing demolition and exterior painting

• Twenty-three (23) volunteers will be at 5118 Arts St., Monday – Thursday, doing exterior painting
