Coach Miguel Lau, Cory Rodivich, Ryan Chighizola |
The 1991-2 bowling team entered two squads of five in the New Orleans Prep Bowling League. The Crimson team finished second and the Gold team third in the regular season. Cory Rodivich had the highest average in the entire league – 170. And he was only a freshman!
In the City Roll Off, each team moved up a notch. That's right. The Crusader keglers swept first and second. Sophomore Ryan Chighizola rolled 242 for the highest scratch game in the tournament. The team MVP award was captured by junior Cliff Bigner. Miguel Lau was the coach.

| Swimming Coach of the Year |
The 1987-8 swim team compiled the best season in Brother Martin history to that point.
- The squad finished second in city and second in state.
- Brant Schroeder earned Coach of the Year honors.
- Outstanding performances were turned in by David Beck, Ricky Akin, Murray Fontenot, Eric Houin, Chris Page, Chris Casper, and Jimmy Wright.
- Other members of the team were Matt Monson, John Fontenot, and Billy Gaudin.

Pictured below is the 1982-3 Brother Martin soccer team, the first in school history. The coach was Victor Arroyo (BM '82). The captains were seniors David Horos and Frank Mayeur. Notice the pre-Jordan shorts.

The 1975 Brother Martin Cross Country team won the district and city championships and finished fifth at the state meet. The leading runners for Coach Jack Schommer were seniors Steve Falcone, Allison Marshall, Steve Higgins, and sophomores Tommy Heffernan and Ray Conway.

Gerry and Ronnie Colletti dig in to place in a 1975 district meet at Teke Beach. (Notice anything odd about their uniforms?) |
| Kingsmen's Only State Championship |
In its brief athletic history, Cor Jesu High School won one state championship. That was in golf in 1969.
- The coach was Don Oster.
- The team posted a 615 total to win the city title by 20 strokes at City Park.
- The state tournament was plagued by steady rain the first day and wet grounds the second. Nevertheless, the team tallied the low score of 625.

Stan Stopa (BM '70) became a professional golfer. He has been a club professional and played in events on the PGA and Senior PGA Tours. He lives in Metairie.

Kingsmen state champion golfers: Mike Jones, Stan Stopa, Bill McGaffick, Jerome Gambino
Nice hat, Stan! |
The 1964 St. Aloysius golf team captured the New Orleans Interscholastic Golf Tournament at City Park. Captain and MVP Frank Gumpert tied for second with a 72-hole total of 215. The Saints' 607 total put them 12 ahead of Jesuit and far ahead of Fortier's 635. Gumpert, Doug Burke, Dennis Caron, and Mike Shea made up Coach Bill Arms' four-man tournament team.

Tennis
was reinstituted at 1137 Esplanade Avenue in 1960-1 with Bill
Judice, "one of the top players in the city," as
the coach. The team practiced on one court at City Park. The Aloysian listed eleven squad members: Frank Douglass, Fred
Parry, James Prentice, George Verret, Jimmy Gaile, Sidney Kuhn, Robert
Ziifle, Rodney James, Michael Schneller, Thomas Gordon, and Douglas Gordon.
After losing to St. Francis of Houma (now Vandebilt),
the net men defeated Warren Easton and gained revenge on St. Francis before falling to East Jefferson.
| State Track Individual Champions |
The St. Aloysius Crusaders captured three individual championships at the 1953 AA State Track Championships.
- Senior captain Richie Gueldner won both the shot put and the discus. His 153' 3" heave in the discus bettered the previous state record by 4" 2 ½". He put the shot 55' 2 1/2".
- Another senior, Bob Reese, tied for first in the pole vault at 11' 8".
- Senior Tommy Gonzales' javelin throw of 167' 10" was good for second place.
- Senior Mark Huber finished third in the 180 low hurdles.
Coach Eddie Toribio's thinclads finished fifth with 22 1/2 points.

Boxing was inaugurated at St. Aloysius in the second semester of the 1932-3 school year under W. E. Jones (who also coached football). Amazingly, two of the Panther "mittmen" won state championships in Baton Rouge.
- Junior Anthony Mule triumphed in the 147-pound class.
- Sophomore Jesse Danna claimed the title at 112.
Two other SA pugilists had reached the finals of the city tournament at the Coliseum Arena uptown. Mule lost his finals bout. However, Allyn Roussel and Anthony Occhipinti joined Danna in capturing their weight classes.
