David is the President and CEO of Gallo Mechanical, L.L.C. and GMC Services, L.L.C. Under David’s direction, Gallo Mechanical has been instrumental in the reconstruction process following Hurricane Katrina including the restoration of the Louisiana Superdome, Brother Martin High School, and many Archdiocesan schools.
David is a leader in the Mechanical Construction industry where he serves on the Labor Estimating Manual Committee for the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA). Earlier this year, he gave a presentation entitled “Lessons Learned: A Contractor’s Guide to Disaster Recovery” at the MCAA National Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona. David is also the Past President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Orleans and is currently serving as the Association's Vice President. Governor Foster appointed David as the Mechanical Contractor Representative on the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, a post he held for 10 years.
David is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Fore!Kids Foundation, a local non-profit organization which produces the Zurich Class of New Orleans and contributes the proceeds to local children’s charities. David also serves on the Board of Directors of the Magnolia School, the Louisiana Art Works, and the St. Aloysius Century Foundation. David is a member of Legatus and currently serves on the St. Dominic Finance Council. While his children were at St. Dominic, David served as President of the St. Dominic Men’s Club and as a member of the St. Dominic School Board. He also held a position on the St. Dominic Strategic Planning Committee. David is a Past-President of Metairie Country Club, where he oversaw the Club’s recent expansion and rebuilding efforts.
David graduated from Brother Martin High School in 1977 and the University of New Orleans in 1981 with a degree in Business Management. While at the University of New Orleans, David was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
David’s father, August R. Gallo, Jr. ’53 SA was the Alumnus of the Year in 1993. David’s three (3) brothers are also graduates of Brother Martin: Stephen ’80, Douglas ’81 and Bryan ’90.
David has been married for 28 years to Jeanne Pregeant Gallo. They have a daughter Victoria, and two sons, August ’05 and David, Jr. ’09. Victoria received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 2006, her Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University Law School this Spring, and is currently working at Jones Walker in New Orleans. August graduated from Tulane University this Spring with a degree in Consumer Behavior and Marketing and is currently working in Chicago. David, Jr. just began his freshman year at Vanderbilt University where he is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In his spare time, David enjoys playing golf and traveling with Jeanne.
