Art

Art I
This course is designed to teach the fundamentals and techniques involved in creating different art forms. Studio activities and assignments include drawing, painting, relief printing, drafting and architecture.
Course fee: $60

Art II
This course is designed to further the student's knowledge and skill level in the areas covered in Art I; with emphasis on the historical perspective of each area covered.
Course fee: $60

Art III
This course is designed to concentrate on the techniques of drawing, painting and sculpture in a highly individualized learning environment. Prerequisite: Art II and teacher approval.
Course fee: $60

Art II Technical / Art III Technical
This course is an introduction to the computer as a tool for artistic expression. Students will explore new aesthetic discourses which are unique to computer imagery and learn about digital techniques that are capable of extending traditional forms of artistic expression.
Prerequisite: Art I
Course fee: $125

Fine Arts Honors
This course is a survey studio course designed to give the students an experience of the creative process and an opportunity to express their own personal experience through the various arts. The course includes activities and projects in drawing, painting, sculpture, music, drama, video and film as well as the applied arts.

Band

Beginning Band
Ninth graders with little or no previous band experience may enroll in Beginning Band Class which meets daily. Interested students must schedule an appointment with the band director before selecting this course. A limited number of school-owned instruments are available and maybe rented.

Advanced Band
Students with well-developed musical skills may be placed in Advanced Band, a class which consists of Marching Band and Concert Band. The Crusader Marching Band is organized for performances at marching festivals, half-time shows and Mardi Gras parades. The group rehearses daily during the fourth or fifth period and from 3:15 - 5:00 p.m., Monday and Thursday during football season. After football season, the Concert Band functions as the top instrumental performing ensemble. Membership is by audition and is limited to outstanding players. The Concert Band participates in the L.M.E.A. band festival and presents concerts.

Chorus class is a full-credit elective course which meets daily. It provides training and experience singing music especially selected for high school male voices. These experiences are planned to develop a love for singing, to encourage participation in choral activities at school and in community, to give students a working knowledge of the principles of good singing, to acquaint them with some of the masterpieces of choral literature and to give proper training to maturing voices.
