8 Wrestlers Named to New Orleans All-Metro Team

Singlet Layout 1-2Eight members of the 2013-2014 State Champion Crusader wrestling team were named to the New Orleans All Metro Team.  Junior wrestler Paul Klein was also named the Division I Most Valuable Wrestler and The New Orleans Advocate’s Wrestler of the Year.  Klein won the Division I state championship in the 132-pound weight class and helped Brother Martin win its third straight title. Klein also won the 106-pound title as a freshman and the 120-pound weight class as a sophomore.

First Team

Stephen Shields/Brother Martin, Freshman
Shields won the Division I state championship in the 106-pound weight class.

Mason Mauro/Brother Martin, Junior
Mauron won the Division I state championship in the 113-pound weight class.

Taylor Gambil/Brother Martin, Sophomore
Gambil finished second in the 126-pound weight class in the Division I state tournament.

Paul Klein/Brother Martin, Junior
Klein won his third consecutive Division I title, this time in the 132-pound weigh class.

Austin Meyn/Brother Martin, Senior
Meyn won the 138-pound weight class Division I title after a runner-up finish in 2013.

Mason Williams/Brother Martin, Junior
Williams finished runner-up in the 152-pound weight class of the Division I tournament.

Yehia Riles/Brother Martin, Junior
Riles, runner-up in 2013, won the Division I title in the 182-pound weight class.

Second team

Head coach Robbie Dauterive was also named Coach of the Year after leading Brother Martin to its third consecutive Division I state championship and an undefeated season.
